If you need a surface then I think you'll need to Patch the points, unfortunately Patch won't be available until the next release goes out. You can always bake the points of course and use the Rhino Patch command manually.

Hi all, I've just imported a pointcloud into rhino as an .xyz format. There are tens of thousands of points, and so to keep the working file manageable and fast running, I need to keep them as a grouped point cloud. The issue now is that I don't think I'm able to assign a pointcloud as an input value to grasshopper, to produce a mesh from points.
